These terms are an agreement between you and VillagePost ("we", "us") about your use of VillagePost at https://villagepost.net (the "site"). By creating an account or using the site you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

1. Who can use VillagePost

You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, you need permission from a parent or guardian, and you may not buy or sell in the marketplace. You may only have one account, and the information you give us (like your email address) must be accurate.

2. Your account

You are responsible for what happens under your account. Keep your password private and tell us right away at support@villagepost.net if you think someone else is using it. Your username is public; don't pick one that impersonates another person or organization.

3. Your content

You own what you post: wall posts, comments, forum topics and replies, listings, events, page descriptions and anything else. By posting it, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, display, and copy it as needed to run the site (for example, showing your post to other users and keeping backups). This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies already in backups that are rotated out over time, or content that others have shared or quoted.

Most content on VillagePost is public: anyone, including people without accounts and search engines, can see it. Don't post anything you want to keep private.

4. Rules

You agree not to post or do any of the following:

anything illegal, or that encourages illegal activity;
harassment, threats, bullying, or targeting someone because of race, ethnicity, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability or national origin;
sexual content involving minors (we report it to authorities), or sexually explicit content of anyone;
other people's private information (addresses, phone numbers, photos) without their permission;
spam, scams, chain letters, pyramid schemes or misleading listings;
content you don't have the right to post, such as someone else's photos or copyrighted work;
impersonating another person, or misrepresenting your connection to a person or group;
viruses, malware, scraping, automated account creation, or anything that interferes with the site or tries to get around our security.

5. Marketplace and events

VillagePost only provides a place to post listings and events. We are not a party to any sale, trade or meetup, we don't check items, sellers, buyers or events, and we are not responsible for them. Meet in public places, don't send money to people you haven't met, and use common sense. You may not list illegal items, weapons, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, animals for sale (rehoming with a small fee is fine), recalled products, or anything else a reasonable person would find dangerous.

6. Pages and moderation

If you create a page, you can remove posts, comments and forum topics on it. Our moderators and administrators can remove any content and can suspend or ban any account that breaks these terms, at our discretion, with or without notice. You can report content using the "report" links. We are not obligated to monitor the site, and we aren't responsible for content posted by users.

7. Copyright complaints

If you believe something on the site infringes your copyright, email support@villagepost.net with: your contact information, a description of the work, a link to the content, a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorized, and a statement under penalty of perjury that your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner, with your physical or electronic signature. We remove infringing content and terminate repeat infringers.

8. Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time from your settings page. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms or if we stop running the site.

9. Disclaimers

The site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't promise the site will always be available, secure or error-free, or that content on it is accurate.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, VillagePost won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of the site or from dealings with other users. Our total liability for any claim relating to the site is limited to $100.

11. Indemnity

You agree to defend and hold harmless VillagePost from claims arising from your content, your use of the site, or your breaking these terms or the law.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Pennsylvania, without regard to conflict of law rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Pennsylvania.

13. Changes

We may update these terms. If the changes are significant we'll post a notice on the site. Continuing to use the site after changes take effect means you accept them.
